The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Eno Umo Bassey has flagged Off Exercise STILL WATERS III at 2 Brigade Step-Up Headquarters, Ikot Afanag, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator(Dr) Akon Eyakenyi

commended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for the Exercise. She noted that the 2 Brigade and other security agencies have been playing a critical role in ensuring that the State continues to enjoy the nationally recognized and enviable status as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

She further added that threats of cultism, insurgency, kidnapping among other security issues will be curtailed in the state with the level of synergy existing between the Nigerian Army(NA) and other security agencies.

Earlier, the Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General KE Chigbu, while making his remarks stated that, the event could not have come at a better time than now, when there are growing concerns about the security challenges confronting the state and nation at large.

He added that the Brigade in collaboration with the other security agencies in Akwa Ibom state will continue to work in synergy to support the state government.

He further added that both kinetic and non-kinetic lines of operations would be explored to effectively tackle the threats bedevilling the state in line with the command philosophy of the COAS.

Highlights of events were crowd dispersal drills, aerial surveillance/support for the flag-off event by the Nigerian Air Force, presentation of souvenirs, medical outreach, and group photograph.
