Nigeria National Petroleum Company Ltd  has signed a memorandum of understanding with Golar LNG of Norway to build a floating liquefied natural gas plant in the country, the company said.

NNPC in a series of tweets on Thursday said that the MoU was signed by NNPC chief executive Mele Kyari and Golar CEO Karl Fredrik Staubo on behalf of their respective companies during a brief ceremony held in Abuja.

“The agreement is in furtherance of NNPCL’s efforts to deepen Nigeria’s domestic gas utilization and enhance gas export,

Golar LNG is one of the world’s largest independent owners and operators of marine-based LNG midstream infrastructure that is active in the liquefaction, transportation and regasification of natural gas.
