The Lagos State Government says it is passionately committed to leaving a legacy of quality education in the State, adding that its various interventions in concretising quality teaching and learning will be sustained.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji stated this during a tour of schools across the State on Monday aimed at observing compliance with the directive on resumption for the 2023/24 session.

He added that additional infrastructure will be provided where necessary while  inspecting facilities, interacting with students and teachers as well as delivering a message from Mr. Governor to welcome everyone back to school for the new school session.

Abolaji encouraged the students to reciprocate the passion and commitment of the Governor to their welfare and justify the investment of the State with outstanding dedication and performance in the new school session.

In his words, “The Governor’s desire and purpose is to ensure that all students in the State receive a good education in a good and conducive environment.

Towards this end, over 1,400 education infrastructure were delivered to public schools across the State”.

“These projects are evenly distributed across the LG and LCDAs in Lagos and there is hardly any school that was not touched by either a new school building, new classroom block, hostels, security structures, school fence, toilets, furniture, or boreholes among others”, he added.

The Permanent Secretary further reiterated that, apart from infrastructure, the present administration has improved all elements of the value chain of education including teacher recruitment and training, reward system, curriculum review, investment in technology for learning and provision of modern working tools.

Some of the schools visited by the Permanent Secretary and Senior Directors in the Ministry include Ibelefun Community Junior Secondary School, newly established for Ibelefun community at Ibeshe and Musade Odugate Government Junior High School, a new school established for Ori Okuta community.

Other Schools are Government Technical College; Ikorodu Junior and Senior High School; Elepe Community Junior and Senior High School; Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta; Oreyo Senior Grammar School and Ikorodu High School, Odonguyan.
