Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike

Elder statesman and Convener of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, has described FCT minister, Nyesom Wike as a charge and bail lawyer who used politics to gain prominence and affluence.

Appearing on Sunday Politics on Channels TV, Clark who openly displayed his disdain for Wike’s brand of politics as regards his beef with his successor in Rivers Government House, Sim Fubara, said Wike’s railings at and insult on political heavyweights and statesmen in Rivers state shows he “has no character.”

He warned that Wike’s actions in the polity of Rivers state is capable of throwing the state into pandemonium.

“How can he have one leg in the PDP and one leg in the APC,” Clark wondered, saying ‘it shows he has no integrity.”

He faulted President Bola Tinubu’s intervention into the political crisis rocking the state, describing it as “anti-constitution and anti-the people of Rivers state”.

In the wake of the feud between Fubara and Wike, Tinubu had convened a meeting in Aso Rock where a truce agreement was signed.

But Clark described President Tinubu’s action as unconstitutional, urging Tinubu never to place politics above the constitution of the country.

He faulted the truce agreement, saying it is not worthy of being honoured because it runs contrary to the constitution. He said the people of Rivers state and the south-south do not support illegality, urging Tinubu to show once again that he is a true democrat, a credential he demonstrated while he was governor of Lagos state.

Clark came hard on Wike as he fielded questions, saying that the FCT minister is a man of vaulting ambition. He warned Tinubu to beware of Wike and his ambition.
