September 21, 2022
With few days to the commencement of campaigns for the 2023 general elections, Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced withdrawal from participating in the presidential campaign of the party.
Olabode George made the announcement on behalf of the group after a long meeting which started at about 7pm on Tuesday and ended at past 2am on Wednesday at the private residence of governor Wike in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
With members of the group still insisting on Iyorcha Ayu’s resignation as National Chairman of the party to give way for a southern candidate, they declared that none of them will participate in whatever capacity in the campaign council.
Others at the meeting are elder statesmen, Olabode George, Jerry Gana; South-South Chairman of the PDP, Dan Orbih; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche; Senator Suleiman Nazif, Nnenna Ukeje, among several others.
