Water Corporation appoints children as water Ambassadors
March 20, 2018
Mr Muminu Badmus, the Managing Director, Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), said on Tuesday that members of Lagos State Children’s Parliament would act as Ambassadors for the corporation.
Badmus said this at a news conference organised by the corporation as part of its celebration of the 2018 World Water Day.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme for 2018 World Water Day is ‘Nature for Water’.
According to Badmus, children have been hugely affected by the ongoing global water crisis and the agency considers it imperative that they come first in the efforts to solve water crisis in the state.
”These ambassadors are from secondary schools in Lagos State.
”We brought them in to act as our watchdogs out there to alert us on water-related issues.
”As ambassadors, we want them to help the corporation encourage people to connect to public water.
”They are also to tell their parents and peers to imbibe the habit of conserving water, among others things.”
Badmus said that they would also serve as a means of getting feedbacks on how water consumers feel about the corporation and its services.
The Speaker of the Children’s Parliament, who represented the children, thanked the corporation for giving them the opportunity to serve as water Ambassadors.
He said all the children would work hard to make the corporation proud of them and ensure that water consumers in the state had access to the water facilities and were happy paying their water bills.
