I want to step into Buhari’s shoes, not on his toes – Tinubu tells APC Senators

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, an All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential aspirant and acclaimed national leader of the party has approached the APC Senate Caucus on Wednesday seeking support of senators of his party.
He said he would “never to step on President Muhammadu Buhari’s toes” if elected as Nigeria’s next President, rather he would step into Buhari’s shoes as Nigeria’s next President.
“I told Mr President that my ambition is not blind to the extent that I will step on his toes. I just want to step into his shoes and not on his toes,” he said.
Tinubu said he has the experience and capacity to be Nigeria’s next President, having served as a former state governor and as a Senator.
The APC National Leader was received by the APC Senators, led by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan who paid glowing tribute to Tinubu on his contributions to national development and to Lagos in particular.
Tinubu lauded the National Assembly for sustaining the nation’s democracy, stressing that protecting the interest of women is necessary for the good health of the polity.
Asiwaju came to seek support of the APC Senators for his 2023 presidential ambition.
He said, “I came for your counsel, partnership and support. I believe that you can back me for my lifetime ambition
“Nigeria has come to a point where we need a change of baton. Mr President is rounding up (off) his second term.
“I told Mr President that my ambition is not blind to the extent that I will step on his toes. I just want to step into his shoes and not on his toes.
“I want to beg you to look at my capacity and my experience. I am perhaps the only one who has been in the senate, who has been a governor and aspiring to become president”
