Two soldiers killed as troops repel another Boko Haram attack
Boko Haram insurgents staged an onslaught on troops in the northern precinct of Borno State, specifically in the Kangarwa area resulting in heavy shootout with Nigerian troops.
The gun duel which started about 6.30pm Tuesday lingered into the night leading to a heavy toll on the side of the insurgents. Two soldiers were killed while seven sustained injuries in the face-off. The troops were however able to repel the insurgents.
Due to poor visibility, the number of terrorists killed could not be ascertained for now, said a statement issued by the Army.
“The bodies of the gallant soldiers and those wounded in action are being evacuated while the unit is carrying out mop up operation. It should be noted that the successful repelling of the attack was made possible by support from the Nigerian and Chadian Air Force fighter jets”, the statement said.
