Terrorists attack governor’s convoy, kill two policemen, injure others
For the first time in 12 years of insurgency in the north east, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the convoy of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni along Maiduguri-Dramaturg Road, killing two policemen and injuring two others.
No governor of Yobe has had his convoy attacked by Boko Haram outlaws in 12 years of insurgency in the zone.
The attack occurred on Saturday after the governor attended the 24th convocation of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State when the terrorists operating on the highway opened fire on the convoy from both sides of the road.
The terrorists targeted the pilot vehicle ostensibly to demobilize the convoy. The governor was said not to be in the convoy when the terrorists unleashed the attack.
They killed one policeman on the spot while the other died later.
