TCN targets 10,000mw of electricity by 2026

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN says it is targeting to improve power transmission in the country up to ten thousand megawatts of electricity by the end of 2026.

Managing Director of TCN, Sule Abdulaziz made the commitment at the state house at a briefing organised by the presidential media team called “meet the press”.

Nigeria, on Tuesday reached a milestone in power generation, generating five thousand, eight hundred one (5,801mw) mega watts of electricity while same was transmitted by the TCN.

However, TCN, with current capacity to transmit over eight thousand mega watts says it is working and targeting to improve the capacity in the next two years.

The managing director who assured that government has commenced the gradual process of overhauling the aging national grid also disclosed that the company is making significant progress in the installation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to manage disturbances on the grid.
