Surprise as Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting
President Muhammadu Buhari is absent at the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, which held inside the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over the meeting.
No reason was given for Mr President’s absence and he was not known to have travelled out of Abuja.
But his decision to be absent may be sudden as a security operative in plain clothes had earlier stood behind the President’s seat to secure it which is one of the protocols that usually heralded the President’s arrival at such meeting.
Many of the ministers in attendance may have been taken aback by the President’s absence as all the indicators of his attendance were visible until the last minute. By 11am when the FEC meeting was scheduled to commence, it was Osinbajo’s voice  that called for the National Anthem.
As at press time, the President was yet to arrive at the meeting.
