Sheikh Zakzaky arrives Nigeria, prefers Iran to India
Following lack of breakthrough in the impasse that ensued in the treatment in New Delhi, India of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, the Sheikh is now on his way back to Abuja, Nigeria. He arrives this morning to continue his medicare in Nigeria.
Political Economist learnt that the Shiite leader had wanted to be taken to Iran where several experts had been lined up for his treatment. Persons close to Sheikh confirmed that Iran is a more friendly country to the Shiite leader and that the Iranian government was willing to foot the bill.
He departed New Delhi Thursday in a commercial airline by 5pm Nigerian time.
In a video message sent through his office, the Sheikh said it was decided that they would be flown back to Nigeria.
A member of Islamic Human Right Commission (IHRC) which negotiated the medical treatment in India said that the Nigerian government’s interference and scuttling of the whole process rather than supervision as ordered by the court is the direct cause of the impasse.
The Sheikh had travelled with a retinue of security operatives and his wife but he revolted the treatment he was given at Mendata Hospital where he claimed he was not assigned to the doctors originally booked to treat him.
