Senators in a closed-door meeting with IGP over, insecurity, community policing implementation
The Senate is in a closed door meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu over the nation’s security challenges.
The Senate had, on resumption from its break, taken a whole day to discuss the security crisis in the nation and summoned the IGP following fears that the wave of crimes across the nation is on the rise again.
Mr. Adamu is expected to brief lawmakers on the concept and practical implementation modalities of community policing policy.
While the Senate urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency on security, it equally constituted a 17-man ad-hoc committee headed by the Senate Leader, Yahayah Abdullahi on Tuesday, and mandated it to, among other things, interface with heads of relevant security outfits.
