SANWO-OLU COMMISSIONS NEWLY CONSTRUCTED POLICE AREA “M” COMMAND

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned the newly constructed Police Area “M” Command (Phase III & IV), Idimu, Lagos.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, on Thursday, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin noted that the commissioning of the Police Station Lecture Hall, Hostel Blocks, Canteen and Commandant’s Quarters is not only remarkable but also attesting to the commitment of the present administration in ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties in the State is of utmost importance.

“This bouquet of infrastructure for the Police is a testament to our administration’s faith in the police who keep their eyes open while we all go to sleep.

The State Government isn’t unmindful of the impact of insecurity on lives and properties, businesses and the economy, which is why it is deliberate in deploying several strategies including the provision of skills acquisition, agricultural programmes, construction, wealth creation, employment trust fund and use of technology to make Lagos State greater, safer and more secure as the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria and indeed Africa”, he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, while stressing the need for synergy between the Police and the people to curb crime, urged the people of the Idimu community to fully cooperate and collaborate with the Police to assist and strengthen the security in the environment to ensure the full realisation of the objectives behind the construction and equipping of this Police station.

He added that his administration has all hands on deck to ensure that the State is free of crime, filthy environment and several other social vices.

Speaking earlier, the Inspector General of Police, IG Egbetokun Kayode, represented by the ACP Operations Lagos Command, ACP. Dotun Odubona commended the Lagos State Government for the newly constructed Idimu Police Station. He said the building of the Police Station in Idimu would reduce crime among the people of Idimu community and its environs.

IGP Egbetokun Kayode assured the State Government and Idimu residents that the infrastructure put in place will be put to good use while extending his appreciation to the State Government and the Lagos State Ministry of Justice for its commitment to maintaining stability, law and order in the State.

Also speaking, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, extended his sincere gratitude to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to enhancing infrastructural development in the justice administration and supporting the cause of law and order in the Lagos State.

The Attorney-General noted that beyond offering a conducive workspace, the facility is designed to enhance community policing, fostering a closer relationship between law enforcement and Idimu residents as the State addresses security challenges to build a safer and more harmonious society.

“Let’s continue working together to build a state where the rights, security and safety of every citizen are vigilantly protected”, he said.

Furthermore, Pedro commended all involved in bringing the project to fruition including the architects, engineers, contractors, and every individual contributing expertise, stating that the commitment to excellence reflects the shared values everyone holds dearly in Lagos State.

In her remarks, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Titilayo Shitta-Bey-Jeje, represented by the Director for Directorate of Civil Litigation, Mr. Hameed Oyenuga expressed profound gratitude to the State Government, Attorney-General, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Residents of Idimu and its environs for gracing the occasion.

“Lagos State has always been a pacesetter in everything and that’s exactly what we’ve done here today. I appreciate you all for keeping faith with this administration and the rare privilege to serve”, she said.

Dignitaries present at the event include members of the Lagos House of Assembly, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Party Leaders, Chairman Idimu LCDA, Directors in the Ministry of Justice and Idimu Residents among others.
