The Rotary Club of Ikeja on Tuesday continued its tradition of 44 years by visiting patients on admission at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja where they donated gifts to the patients and equipment worth millions to the management of the hospital.

Speaking at the event in which the Club members consisting of past Presidents and the District Governor of 9110, the current President, Architect Adelaja Adeniyi paid tributes to the founding fathers of the club who initiated the tradition about 44 years ago and which the club has sustained till date.

The event in the calendar of Rotary Club of Ikeja is tagged the annual Christmas visit of where members spend the day in dancing and fellowship with the patients and the staff on duty. This year’s event was marked with a carnival where the patients not only received gifts but were also given the rare privilege to interact with the officers of the club, past presidents, the District Governor and other personalities who converged on LASUTH for the event as early as 7am on Christmas Day.

Members of the club spent the Christmas Day to commemorate their annual visit to LASUTH. This happens to be the 44th year of this event taking place.

Several Rotarians in attendance include the Immediate past President Laitan Oduroye, President Elect Muyiwa Fagboola, Past Presidents Oliva Johnson, Kola Sodipo and his wife Adenike Sodipo, Funsho Peters, Lanre Fasehun, Ade Oyenekan including Dr Olusola Akinsiku.

Also in attendance was the Director Clinical services and training, Dr Ibrahim Mustapha, Director Nursing services, Mrs Adebola Aina, Director Hospital Admin, Mrs. Adio and other members of LASUTH staff.

It was a wonderful celebration which involved the distribution of gifts to patients, donation of equipment, awarding of outstanding staff of the year, assessment of wards and award for the ward with the highest scores.

The highlights of this year’s celebration was the award given to the various wards of the  hospital based on their attitude to work and to patients, a culture that has really impacted on the staff of the hospital.

In the overall contest three departments came first having scored the highest and were each rewarded with a trophy each and cash gifts from the Rotary Club of Ikeja.
