Revealed! Nigeria’s top 10 wonder kids
The Top10 Magazine has released the list of 10 most outstanding kids in Nigeria titled ‘Nigeria’s Top 10 Wonder Kids’ from its survey on the country’s talented child prodigies.
The list is contained in the latest edition of the magazine that celebrated 10 outstanding and talented prodigies ruling the world as super stars in different fields of endeavours.
Topping the list are Oziomachukwu Favour Mojekwu popularly known as Ozzybosco, an 11 years old Nigerian music prodigy, Emmanuella Samuel, a kid comedienne of the Mark Angel Comedy Group, Temitayo Kayode, a young Nigerian gospel saxophonist, Amarachi Uyanne, a star Nigerian kid dancer, and Marylove Edwards, an 11 year-old Nigerian female tennis star.
Others are Demilade Adepegba, a master young Saxophone and music star, Misimi Isimi, a 9 year old Nigerian environmentalist and gender equality advocate, Praise Emmanuel Adebayo, a kid sax Instrumentalist, Alexandra West, a 9 year grade four student and the brain behind Lexy Fashion House, Tomisin Ogunnubi, the youngest Nigerian programmer who created an app called My Locator to help children find their way home from any location.
In a media release, the management of the magazine stated that the idea behind dedicating the current edition to children is to celebrate excellence and ingenuity of the Nigerian child with the view to inspiring other children with talent potentials to be super stars in different fields such as academic excellence, sports, entertainment, religious knowledge etc.
Mr. Tony Iji, publisher of the magazine said that, “this edition is the second time the magazine threw nomination of personalities open to the public, its new practice of making everybody participate in the selection process through voting”. The voting exercise to select the final top 10 out of the 34 nominees attracted a lot of traffic and at the end of the voting exercise, 104, 742 votes were casted for the nominees, with Ozzybosco coming tops as the most popular wonder kid in the land. Mr. Iji stated that the high traffic attracted by the voting exercise is in recognition of the unique place of whiz kids in the new Nigeria that is emerging, that places high premium on children as the future of the world.
As part of strategy to involve members of the public in the selection process of those who make the top 10 list for every edition of the magazine, a platform has been created on the magazine’s website www.thetop10magazine.com.ng to enable members of the public to vote for the nominees of their choice out of shortlisted nominees.
Mr. Iji said that “since its introduction few months ago, the platform has attracted heavy traffic from the voting public who participate to vote their preferred nominees into the top 10 list for various editions of the magazine”.
