Why we resigned from Fubara’s government – Commissioners loyal to Wike
Rivers State served up another dish from its menu of unending drama when two commissioners on Wednesday quit the Sim Fubara cabinet with immediate effect.
First to resign was Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor, who was followed just hous later by another commissioner Isaac Kamalu. They cited lack of peace and meddlesomeness in their activities by Fubara in a manner that has handicapped their performance. Both commissioners, who are loyalists of ex-governor Nyesom Wike, now the FCT minister.
Fubara had on Tuesday implemented a minor cabinet reshuffle in the state and moved Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) while Kamalu was moved to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
However, Kamalu in a letter to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo, on Wednesday, rejected his redeployment from the Finance Ministry to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
He cited absence of peace in Rivers State despite the peace pact by President Bola Tinubu last December, stressing that it was impossible for him to give his best in an atmosphere of rancour.
Recall that both commissioners had previously resigned from their positions last December following the crisis in the state occasioned by the rift between Fubara and Wike. They were later recalled as part of the peace agreement initiated by the President Bola Tinubu.
