Police On-going Reforms to Be Backed By Law – FPRO

The Nigerian Police says the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu has directed that the on-going reforms in the force should be backed up by law and embedded in the Force order to stand the test of time.
This was disclosed by the Force PRO, Frank Mba who was live on TVC to discuss the on-going reforms in the Force.
According to him, the on-going reforms is all encompassing with wide consultation. “It will be deeply rooted in the law. Our approach is simple, what Nigerians want is sincere leadership, we will ensure this, retrace our steps when we aren’t doing well and ensure we carry the citizens along,” Mba said.
He added that the Force will bring back the culture of working with the people, for the people and ensure the Police remain the closest institution to the people.
“Ag. IGP Adamu is not going to throw away the policies of his predecessors but select the wonderful and positive ones that are in the interest of the people and the country. He will also re-gird some of the policies that are necessary to fit it his own good policy directions.”
“On decentralisation of SARS, it’s all about restoring order and constitutionality. Sec 215:3 gives clarification on this. All the complaints by Nigerians on SARS are being adequately addressed. Nigerians should be patient as the on-going reforms is for good.”
“All critical and relevant stakeholders, the NSA, NBA, CSOs, Traditional Rulers and other key government agencies in internal security are with us in this on-going reform to make the Nigeria Police Force the pride of the Nation in performance and efficiency”.
On the forthcoming General Election, Mba assured that the Police will be apolitical and neutral. “Our loyalty is to the constitution, laws of the federation and the people of Nigeria. We will provide a level playing field for all, whether politician, activist or CSO”.
