Feb. 15, 2024

The police command in Katsina State has launched an electronic Central Motor Registry (eCMR) to combat vehicle-related crimes.

The police spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in Katsina on Wednesday.

“In line with the policy of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to enhance internal security, we wish to announce the launch of the eCMR.

“The establishment of the eCMR office was aimed at bolstering efforts to tackle vehicle-related crimes and enhance public safety and security.

“The eCMR represents a strategic leap forward to effectively address vehicle-related crimes such as car theft and vandalism,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.

According to him, by leveraging advanced technology and streamlined reporting mechanisms, the police seek to create a more robust and responsive framework for addressing the challenges.

He said that through the eCMR platform, citizens were encouraged to promptly report incidents and provide relevant information to facilitate swift and effective resolution of vehicle-related offences.

The police spokesman said, “This initiative holds the potential to significantly deter criminal activities and enhance the overall security landscape.

“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, calls on all members of the public to key into this important initiative and contribute to the collective effort to mitigate vehicle-related crimes.

“By embracing eCMR and actively participating, individuals can play a vital role in the ongoing fight against all forms of vehicle-related crimes in the state and the country in general.
