Police arrest alleged foreigners behind protest with Russian flag
The Police have arrested foreign nationals suspected of being sponsors of protests with Russian flag in the northern part of the country. The arrest came after a security meeting with Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf on Tuesday.
The police commissioner Salman Garba disclosed this, adding that the police and other security agencies will clamp down on anyone trying to undermine the security of the state.
He announced relaxation of the curfew from 6 am to 6 pm, but he did not disclose the identity of the alleged foreign sponsors.
On Monday, some protesters in some Northern states held up the Russian flag as they chanted “Tinubu must go”.
This prompted President Tinubu to hold security meeting on Monday in lieu of the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The police have made several arrests of persons who flew the Russian flag including the tailor said to be the one sewing the flags.
