Peter Obi visits NLC leadership, receives rousing welcome
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Tuesday met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), major stakeholders in the Labour Party, in Abuja.
His arrival elicited shouts of joy among the unionists who openly expressed their support for the Presidential contender. Mr. Obi told labour leaders that he came to solicit their support ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The NLC and Trade Union Congress are critical stakeholders of the Labour party. Though their membership cut across the nation, but the party has over the years failed to make an impact nationwide until the arrival of Peter Obi who joined the party after he pulled out of the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in May.
Since Obi picked the party ticket, the profile and popularity of the party has shot up making him one of the favourites to win the 2023 presidential elections. Obi is popular among young Nigerians.
