PDP Going, Going as More Chieftains Defect to APC in Imo, Rivers
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Chibudom Nwuche has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC just as his PDP counterparts in Imo State namely Ifeanyi Ararume and Humphrey Anumudu have jumped off the PDP train for the APC at the barely hours to the governorship elections.
Nwuche said he had to leave the party because it is corrupt and had short-changed him several times. Continuing, he said his political friends, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Na’abba, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had all moved over to the APC from the PDP. It would be recalled that Nwuche alleged electoral fraud in the senatorial primaries of the PDP when he lost the election for the Rivers West Senatorial district. According him, there was no election. With exit from the PDP, Nwuche is expected to battle with former governor Peter Odili over the political soul of Orashi region in the state where they both hail from. Odili is firmly in the PDP and supporting Chief Nyesom Wike of the PDP for the governorship seat. Nwuche has rallied his supporters to vote for Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the APC.
Meantime the gale of defections that has hit the PDP in Imo State after the presidential election which it lost to the APC on March 28, 2015 has continued ceaselessly.
The two major political players in Imo State and former governorship hopeful on the platform of the PDP, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume and Barr Humphrey Anumudu have dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Also on the list of defectors is another governorship hopeful, Hon Bethel Amadi who was said to have joined the APC last night.
