PDP feud: Something will happen soon – Wike; says ‘gang up cannot stop me’
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, said concerning the feud within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that “something will happen” soon, stressing that as he will do what is right no matter the “gang up” or blackmail.
He spoke during the flag-off of Eneka Internal Roads in the Obio-Akpor area of the state.
He said: “Anybody who knows me knows that once I have made up my mind and I believe that what I am doing is right, if you like, let the whole people team up, as far as my conscience is clear, I will do what is right at all times; it doesn’t matter any gang up.
“All of us should be calm; you’ve heard what is happening in PDP. Nothing has happened yet but by the grace of God; something will happen.”
Governor Wike has had a strained relationship with the PDP after losing out in both presidential primary and the vice presidential slot to Atiku Abubakar.
Following the feud, Wike had been on a frolic with opposition parties, meeting with Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi; and his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Bola Tinubu.
Upon his return from his recent trip to UK, he said: “I can confirm that this is the first time as a team that we are meeting with presidential candidates. We met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC and we met with our leader, former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
“We met the presidential candidate of Labour Party. We also met with our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. For whatever it’s worth, consultation is ongoing.
“Whatever we are talking about, is for the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. It is not parochial and tied to one person or group of persons. We believe that with what is going on, it will be for the interest of Nigerians at the end of the day.”
