Oyo mourns as Alao-Akala joins ancestors at 71

The state of Oyo has been thrown into mourning with the reported death of Christopher Alao-Akala, former governor of the state who died at the age of 71.
Though no official statement has emanated from the family but talk about his life and times dominated discourses in Ibadan especially at the secretariat of the APC.
He was born in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, on June 3, 1950 and was a former police officer before joining politics where he was a deputy governor to Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State.
He later became governor when Ladoja was impeached in very controversial circumstance. He is a strong member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
