Osun Assembly warns MDAs against revenue leakage
February 7, 2018
The Osun House of Assembly has warned Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) against leakage of revenue in the state.
Mr Najeem Salaam, the Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, gave the warning while declaring open the 2018 budget defence of the MDAs on Wednesday in Osogbo.
Salaam said the assembly would be very thorough in the consideration of the budget.
He said that effort would be made to prevent unnecessary increase in the size of the budget.
According to the speaker, any expenditure that is not in tandem with the economic realities in the budget will not be considered.
Salaam also urged the executive to put necessary efforts in place to ensure that ongoing projects were executed before November.
In his remarks, Mr Kamil Oyedele, the House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, urged the MDAs to be aggressive in their revenue drive so as to sustain the budget.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Rauf Aregbesola had on December 28, 2017 presented a budget estimate of N173 billion to the state assembly.
