Okupe dumps PDP, may join APC
Former Spokesperson to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Okupe also served as spokesman for President Olusegun Obasanjo in the early years of his reign from 1999 to 2003.
Okupe from the Ogun State East Senatorial district announced his resignation from the former ruling party Sunday.
The vocal former PDP stalwart served with Dr. Reuben Abati who was Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Jonathan while Okupe was Special Adviser on Public Affairs.
Unconfirmed reports said Okupe would be joining the APC in a matter of days. A source said Okupe had been promised a special role in the APC ahead of the 2019 elections.
