Okowa Commends Rainoil on Job Creation
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has commended the management of Rainoil Limited for its steadfastness in job creation and promotion of local content in the nation’s downstream economy.
Speaking recently at the dedication and commissioning of Rainoil new head office in Lekki, Lagos, Okowa, said that creating jobs is something that every Nigerian must think about.
“When we see people who are creating jobs we’re very excited. To maintain peace and sustain it anywhere in the country jobs have to be created for the teeming youth population”.
This, according to him can be done through continuous partnership with the private sector to continue to create jobs and sustain peace in the country thereby creating an environment for the youths to thrive. “This is why I am proud of the Managing Director of Rainoil, Mr. Gabriel Ogbechie, as a true son and brother of Delta State in his drive to create jobs and I’m hoping that this will be replicated in Delta State”.
Speaking on the state of the nation Okowa said that Nigeria is for all of us and therefore we should desist from speaking ill of our country. “I know that we’re in trying times and all kinds of things have been said about Nigeria but one thing I know is that Nigeria will stay united. God is with this country and we’ll get past our troubles”.
He however urged that we continue to pray for the nation because the more we pray and wish for peace the more it is likely going to be with us. “We should stop confessing the negative because the more we do that we give room for satan and his agents and there’s no room for that in Nigeria. Staying committed and dedicated to Nigeria we’re able to grow the nation to become a better place though it’s going to take time. But once we resolve as a nation that we want to move forward then forward we will. I believe that we will as a nation continue to move forward”.
The Managing Director however recounted the days of humble beginning of the company. “Looking back at where we began we can’t but give thanks to God”.
With a simple objective of getting something extra to do that would fetch him the same salary (N30, 000) he was earning under his paid employment, this he said gave birth to the idea of the company Rainoil which today has become a company to be reckoned with in the Nigeria petroleum downstream sector.
“I asked myself a very simple question; what else can I do to earn N30, 000 outside my paid employment because anything that I can do that can fetch me the same amount can replace my job. It took us two years to put money together and by 1996 we set out on this journey. I have always believed that whatever you do you must always have an office. We started from a partitioned one room apartment. I never imagined that we will come this far but we give God all the glory.
“From that very humble beginning we’ve been able to grow this company to that, that holds a 50 million litre capacity depot of petroleum products. He said that the success of the organisation is also the success of every member of staff of the organisation”, an excited Mr. Ogbechie told the audience.
