Obasanjo’s letter: Tinubu, Akande storm Aso Rock
Hours after a damaging and scathing letter penned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Muhammadu Buhari started trending on the social media space and sundry news portals, two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande, stormed Aso Rock for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The duo were in the presidential villa and met with Buhari behind closed doors. It was an impromptu meeting, according to Villa sources, and it was reportedly informed by Obasanjo’s letter in which he advised Buhari not to re-contest the 2019 presidential villa.
Tinubu and Akande met with the president for about an hour. They declined to speak to State House correspondents after the meeting.
Their sudden reappearance was seen as a solidarity rally behind the President as the two chieftains were absent at the last Thursday’s night dinner hosted by President Buhari for APC chieftains across the country.
No details were given but inside Aso Rock sources said it was pure solidarity and support for Buhari.
