Oba of Lagos whisked away to safety as fire guts palace
The palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has been gutted by fire forcing the monarch to relocate to a safe place. Fire fighters from the state were called in to put out the angry inferno which ravaged parts of the palace.
The monarch had been in the eye of the storm recently for openly snubbing the Ooni of Ife, regarded as the source of power and the cornerstone of the Yoruba traditional institutions.
The cause of the fire at the palace in central Lagos, is yet unknown, but reports said fire-fighters from Lagos State were able to arrest further spread of the inferno.
