Nollywood actor celebrates as father receives presidential pardon after 34 years
Nollywood Actor, Etim Effiong, has expressed excitement after his father Retired Lt. Col. Moses Effiong received presidential pardon after 34 years for alleged complicity in the Mamman Vatsa coup of 1985.
Etim, who said he could not hold back his joy after his father was granted residential pardon by the Buhari-led administration, after 34 years, took to his Instagram page @etimeffiong to share the good news to his fans and friends.
“THE COLONEL IS BACK! In 1986 my Father was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for concealment of treason in the Vatsa Coup against Gen. Ibrahim Babangida’s military government.
“Although he was released in 1993, it was not made official and his rank and entitlements were not restored.
“Today, 34 years on, he has officially received his presidential pardon,” he wrote.
Effiong is an actor and producer, known for Kofa, Down and out (2012) and from Lagos with Love (2018).
He is a stand out actor among his peers in the entertainment industry, because of his immense contributions to the sector.
The actor was nominated for the Best Actor in a Comedy (Movie or TV Series) category for his outstanding performance in ‘Plan B’. (NAN)
