No Respite Yet as Fresh Bombs Kill 10 in Yobe
Twin bomb explosions have ruptured the relative peace in Potiskum, Yobe State, North Eastern Nigeria, killing no fewer than 10 people, with many others injured. Target was a drinking joint in the town. Among the victims were security officers and members of vigilante groups.
Meanwhile, Defence Headquarters has said that scores of heavily armed terrorists using women and children as shield died Sunday, as they were resisted when they launched attack on Babangida area of Yobe State.
Babangida is the Headquarters of Tarmuwa Local Government Headquarters of the North Eastern State and a distance of 50 kilometers from Damaturu, the State capital, which has been the target of the terrorists in the over five years of insurgency in Nigeria.
The Military in a post Monday, said over 10 rifles and weapon accessories as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition and some hand grenades were also recovered from the terrorists as some of them fled with gunshot wounds. Also, three Hilux van were also recovered from them.
The Defence post confirmed that one soldier and a vigilante member died, while another five were wounded during the bloody encounter.
