Nigeria’s 35% import duty for cars still highest within the region – Finance minister
Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, has outlined some of the rationale behind the drafting of the Finance Bill 2020, especially the reason behind reducing tariffs for imported vehicles.
According to the minister who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, the import duty for cars remains 35 percent, and this is still the highest within the region.
Ahmed noted the need to do more to support the automobile industry in the country.
“The (automotive) plan has not produced the results that were desired. “What is being done is assembly.”
