Ngige is fraudulent, he inserted N2bn into NSITF budget – Hon. Faleke tells House
Honourable James Abiodun Faleke (APC Lagos) representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Lagos, in the House of Representatives has exposed how Dr. Chris Ngige, the minister of Labour and Employment, has ran his ministry in a dubious manner. He accused Ngige on the floor of the House of abusing his office to commit fraud.
He pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to remove Ngige as minister for abuse of office.
Faleke accused Ngige of the following:
- Ngige singlehandedly inserted N2 billion as commission on collection of fees into the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, budget, something that has never happened before. He removed all the people who were against the N2 billion commission and left it in the hand of those who never knew about it.
- Ngige singlehandedly nominated the contractor that bought all the vehicles for NSITF worth N305 million from last year budget. This year some persons said such a thing will not be allowed in this year’s budget. The moment the 2020 budget was approved he sent those opposition persons away.
- Nigige was provided with a convoy of cars by his ministry but that was not enough for him. He compelled NSITF to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Hilux in 2019 for him.
- Ngige inserted four SUVs in the 2020 budget which the men and women he threatened to remove refused.
- Ngige’s wife, Dr (Mrs) Evelyn Ngige) works with the Head of Service of the Federation. Ngige got approval vide a letter dated May 6, signed by his wife to appoint an insurance broker for insurance worth N100 million every year. Ngige quickly wrote a memo on the strength of the letter to NSITF to approve the insurance broker.
Faleke accused Ngige of trying to conceal these allegations by sacking some staff of the NSITF.
