NCF Invites Ghana Officials As Control Team for Nigeria/Rwanda Bilateral Tour Series
The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has invited technical officials from Ghana to be part of the “control team’’ for the Nigeria/Rwanda Bilateral Tour Series.
Musa Ehizoje, the federation’s Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja said the female national team was being prepared earnestly for the international friendly and have been in camp since Jan. 3 preparing for the friendly.
He added that the team would host their Rwandan counterparts in a one-week tournament at the Abuja National Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for June.
“As part of the general objective to make this event an all-encompassing encounter, the NCF has also invited technical officials from Ghana to be part of the playing control team for the series. The Ghana Cricket Association has acknowledged and confirmed the availability of their officials,” the federation spokesman said.
He also quoted Yahaya Ukwenya, the President of NCF, as saying “this development is a major achievement for Nigerian cricket.
“It is also a pointer that the strides being made by the federation is becoming more evident across the continent. This bilateral series between Nigeria and Rwanda, being the first of its kind for female cricket in Nigeria and North-West Africa, is geared towards creating awareness for women cricket in Africa”.
“This will also increase the level of female involvement in the game, providing opportunity for more female tournaments in the continent and foster diplomatic relationship among member countries.’’
The Rwandan Tour of Nigeria will see the visiting team take on the home side in a six-match series.
This will consist of a one-day-international (ODI) 40 overs match and five T-20 matches from Friday to Jan. 30.(NAN)
