NCDC reveals Nigeria’s Lassa Fever cases continues to soar, confirmed cases now 963
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has revealed that Nigeria has continued to report the largest Lassa Fever outbreak.
The NCDC disclosed this in a twitter message on Thursday night.
According to the Centre, “despite the decrease in new Lassa Fever cases reported our response continues to be the largest Lassa fever outbreak reported”.
“This week’s surge staff including clinicians, lab technicians and hygienists have been deployed to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State and Federal Medical Centre Owo”.
In its week 14 report, 5th April, 2020, the Centre reports that it confirmed 12 new infections as cases soar to 963 with 3 new deaths.
In total there are now 188 deaths since the outset of the 2020 outbreak.
The NCDC noted that Edo and Ondo States have the highest new confirmed cases.
