NBA crisis worsens: Suspends proposed Constitutional amendment; Oduah fights back
The crisis rocking the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has worsened as the body of lawyers suspended its proposed Constitutional amendment due to a pending litigation from a member from Abia State.
The NBA President, Olumide Akpata, at the Association’s Annual General Meeting in Lagos, informed members of the difficulty the Association may face in proceeding with discussions on the Amendment owing to a pending suit by Victor Nwaugo Esq.
Nwaugo is said to be a close associate of the embattled NBA General Secretary Joyce Oduah.
The NBA consequently resolved to suspend discussion on the proposed amendment until court cases are resolved.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Association, Madam Joyce Oduah, has shared the Annual Report and Statutory Report of the Association with Members. This followed the setting aside of her suspension by a Federal High court.
In an email which is her first official function since the court set aside the ratification of her suspension from office by National Executive Council of the NBA, Oduah shared her reports to Lawyers as part of preparation to the Annual General Meeting.
The Email reads:
