National Assembly postpones Tuesday’s reconvening
The suspense continues as the National Assembly will no longer reconvene on Tuesday as earlier advertised, spokesman of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas has said. He did not announce a new reconvening date.
The Nigerian parliament was billed to reconvene Tuesday to consider the virement on INEC N242 billion bill among other issues.
Last week Deputy Speaker, Mr Yussuff Lasun, announced that the National Assembly would reconvene on Tuesday, August 14 to consider the budget for the 2019 polls and other pending issues forwarded to lawmakers by President Muhammadu Buhari in July.
Ahead of the meeting, tempers were flaring especially at the Senate, where senators belonging to the ruling All Progressives Congress are calling for the resignation of Senator Bukola Saraki, representing Kwara Central, as president while their PDP counterparts insisted that Saraki is going nowhere.
A ding-dong is being expected at Tuesday’s meeting with both parties fully at each other’s throat.
