Nasarawa Killings: IGP Orders Immediate Deployment of Combined Intervention Squad To Beef Up Security, Fish Out Perpetrators

Against the backdrop of the shootings on 14th April, 2019 in Numa Kochu village, Nasarawa State which resulted in the injury to and death of innocent persons, the Inspector General Police Ag. IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered for the immediate deployment of combined units of intervention squads to provide additional support to the existing operatives in the State.
This was contained in a statement by the Police on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the combined tactical teams comprising the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) and Specialized Investigators from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) have been mandated to provide support to the existing security architecture in the State to prevent further attacks and carry out discrete investigation into the killings.
While restating the commitment of the Force to uncover and bring the perpetrators of the killing to justice, the IGP implores any member of the Public with useful and credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation not to hesitate to avail same to the Police.
Meanwhile the State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura had earlier given security agencies seven days to arrest perpetrators after visiting the injured victims at the General Hospital in Akwanga.
He promised that the government would treat the incident with all the seriousness it deserves, noting that the attack was unwarranted and worrisome owing to the fact that the state has enjoyed relative peace in the last three years.
