Mrakpor calls for integrity as PDP Ward 5 elects leaders in Aniocha South
Eighteen new officials have been elected to run the affairs of Ward 5 of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State during the Ward Congress held at the weekend.
With a party officer supervising the emergence of the new officials as the Returning Officer and an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observing proceedings, the officers were elected unopposed in a peaceful and orderly exercise.
The election saw the emergence of Mr. Peter Chiadika as chairman, Mr. John Odiaka, vice chairman and Rev G.O Obah as secretary. Mr. Ellis Umeadi was elected youth leader, Mrs. Anthonia Akabueze is the new women leader and Mr. Charles Obanua emerged the financial secretary.
Other officials of the executive council are Mr. Elo Maduemezie (organising secretary), Mr. Okey Osakwe (publicity secretary), Mr. Peter Nduka (legal), Mrs. Uche Osakwe (auditor), Mrs. Ifem Osu (assistant secretary) Mr. Christian Okafor (assistant publicity secretary) and Mrs. Nkem Emelie (treasurer).
Also elected are five ex-officio members. They are Gabriel Chukwu, Francis Ujeh, Mrs. Martha Ejiofor, Chiedu Adingupu and Mrs. Rose Ofuani.
Speaking during the congress held at Abuedo Primary School, Ubulu-Uku, the Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Rt. Hon. Onyemaechi Mrakpor, called on the new ward leaders to make integrity and uprightness their watchword.
”In politics or general life, whenever you have an opportunity to serve the people, do it with your spirit, soul and body because the reward for selfless service is promotion in leadership.
“People may call you names when you try to live a life that is worthy of emulations but I am happy that some of those that took my advice some time ago are beginning to see positive results,” Mrakpor also known as Ada Anioma stated.
On his part, the Vice Chairman Aniocha South Local Government Area, Hon Joe Onwordi Ikenwe, emphasised the importance of loyalty to party structure.
Speaking with newsmen in response to a question on why the event was rancour free, the amiable politician attributed the success of the Congress in Ward 5 to the respect the people have for party structure.
His words: ” Loyalty to structure is the major reason today’s event was peaceful. Secondly, because men and women of integrity were brought to serve the Ward, the people were happy”.
Responding on behalf of the new ward executive, the vice chairman, Mr John Odiaka, pledged that they will not do anything without adhering to the party’s laid down rules and regulations.
“Since we were elected by the party to serve in this Ward, we cannot do anything on our own. Party supremacy will always be respected and any action by this executive must have the blessing of members of the party”, Odiaka said.
