The Osun Government’s construction of modern structures and feeding programme for pupils in its public schools would reduce the number of out-of-school children.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, said on Wednesday at the inauguration of the 3,000-student capacity Government High School in Ikire constructed by the state government.
The minister said that the education policies of both the Federal and Osun State Governments were aimed at improving school enrolments.
“What Aregbesola has done in the state and in the education sector can only be achieved by a determined governor and one that truly has the passion to do well for the masses.
“The Federal Ministry of Education is always proud of what the governor has achieved in the educational sector in Osun.
“What Aregbesola has done to education in Osun is wonderful and the state is firmly on the right path to development”, Adamu said.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola in his remarks stressed the need for government at all levels to invest in public education for the nation to move forward.
The governor said that the past glory of public schools needed to be rekindled for the benefits of all.
He said that public school buildings used to be the best structures in the communities before their neglect by past governments.
“ I am convinced that the future of our state is secured because we have invested so much to upgrade our public school structures.
“If all governments decide to turn a blind eye on the education of the down trodden then the future of the nation is doomed,” he said.
The governor, however, called on parents to join the state government in its efforts to maintain the new school building.
