Local content to headline this year’s oil and gas expo
All is now set. This year’s Upstream & Downstream Oil and Gas Expo 2016 comes with the
theme “Oil and gas solution and the Nigerian Content Advancement”. The
event to be co-located this year with the Power, Steel and Housing
Exhibition and Conference, will run from 27-28 September 2016 at the NICON
Luxury Abuja.
The oil and gas industry players are particularly pleased with the fact
that for the past four years the event has been successfully organized by
a wholly indigenous company, West Africa Exhibition and Conferences
(WAECON).
In one of the organizer’s visit to the DPR, the agency noted that this
laudable initiative and effort by the indigenous firm was worthy of
commendation and that informed the endorsement of the event in line with
the Nigerian Local Content Act of 2010. The regulatory Agency further
stated that it expects oil and gas operators in the upstream and
downstream sectors to fully participate in the upcoming conference so as
to sustain the growth of the industry while urging the organizers to build
on the success that has been achieved so far, adding that it is only by so
doing that more international investors can be attracted to the Nigerian
oil and gas industry.
The Director of Event, WAECON, Dr Kune Igoni while responding said the
company was highly elevated by the endorsement coming from DPR. “This once
again reaffirms our strong conviction that indigenous firms are able to
organize major events in the industry successfully like their foreign
counterparts” he said.
The Director of Event, also disclosed that, after the successful hosting
of four (4) editions of this event, the U & D Expo and Conference has
continued to receive commendations from oil and gas companies, high
government personnel and diplomatic missions, and is now endorsed by the
Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Organization of Petroleum
Exporting Countries (OPEC), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC), Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), National Petroleum
Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), South Korean Consulate, Nigeria,
Royal Dutch Embassy, Nigeria and other major industry Players and
Stakeholders, with keen interest shown by world business and political
leaders to participate as Special Resource Persons.
The Upstream and Downstream oil and gas exhibition and conference is the
largest indigenous international oil and gas show in Nigeria targeted at
all key players in oil and gas sector around the world to synergise on
policies, technologies and innovations with the institutions to move the
sector to the next level. The event’s exhibition segment will showcase
equipment, tools technologies as well as services cutting across
geophysical, drilling technologies, seismic data acquisition and offshore
and onshore exploration, among others, while the conference segment will
discuss a wide range of industry activities, with resource presentation by
renowned industry players. Plenary sessions focussing on policy and
technology updates, panel discussions and case studies led by industry
leaders, will also give delegates the opportunity to hear from some of the
most influential people in the industry.
Dr. Kune Igoni called on prospective participants including exhibitors and
delegates to avail themselves of the veritable platform that the event
presents and represents for the growth of their businesses in the
industry.
