The lessons I learnt working with Goodluck Jonathan – Anyim
November 20, 2021
Former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim, has described ex-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as a man who “served Nigeria with passion and sacrifice. He put the nation first in all his programmes and decisions.”
He said working with Jonathan was a “period of great learning in humanity, resourcefulness and commitment to the ideals of Democracy and Good Governance,” adding that President Jonathan “is a man given to perfection.”
Anyim who served as Secretary to Government of the Federation under Jonathan said this in a short reflection on the ‘2021 Democracy Dialogue’ organized by ‘Goodluck Jonathan Foundation’ with the theme; Democracy and Unity of the State.
Prof. Abdoulaye Bathily, former Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Africa was guest speaker and he spoke on the topic: “The Contemporary Challenges of Nation and State-Building in a Context of Multiple Diversities: Comparative Perspective.”
The event turned out a reunion of friends, associates and those who worked with Jonathan in his years as President.
Anyim wrote:
It was a very ecstatic and warm reunion with former colleagues and associates as we gathered at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja for the ‘2021 Democracy Dialogue’ organized by ‘Goodluck Jonathan Foundation’ with the theme; Democracy and Unity of the State.

My work experience under President Goodluck Jonathan, was a period of great learning in humanity, resourcefulness and commitment to the ideals of Democracy and Good Governance. President Jonathan is a man given to perfection. He served Nigeria with passion and sacrifice. He put the nation first in all his programmes and decisions.
I am pleased that his commitment to his father land has not been diluted by series of events that followed after he left office. It is heartwarming that even after office, President Goodluck is concerned about deepening democracy not only in Nigeria but in Africa.
