LASBCA Debunks Rumour of Building Collapse at Egerton Lagos Island
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) General Manager, Engr. Lekan Shodeinde on Monday debunked rumours of a collapsed building at Egerton Street, Lagos as reported on some social media platforms.
In a statement issued by the Agency, Shodeinde said the clarification became necessary because the said three-floor structure which had been identified and marked as distressed was undergoing demolition when the news of collapse emerged.
He asserted that LASBCA had embarked on the demolition of structures identified as weak and distressed to avoid another disaster in the State.
Shodeinde reaffirmed that the present administration will leave no stone unturned in sanitising the building construction industry by removing all structures prone to collapse as well as those that were not in conformity with the State’s building laws.
The General Manager appealed to Lagosians residing in distressed buildings to cooperate with the State Government by moving out of such premises and staying away from demolition sites.
He maintained that LASBCA will continue the discharge its responsibility of determining the structural integrity of buildings across the State in a professional manner.
