Lagos Confirms Five New Ebola Cases
Barely 24 hours after the death of a senior physician, Stella Ameyo Adadevoh, who attended to the first Ebola casualty in the country, American Patrick Sawyer, the Lagos State Government has again confirmed five fresh cases, suspected to be infected with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, made the confirmation Wednesday at a press conference.
According to him, the latest cases were transferred yesterday to the Mainland Infectious Diseases Hospital, Yaba, where the state government had opened designated centre for the treatment of the EVD infected patients.
The Commissioner explained that the fresh five cases bring to eight, the present suspected victims at the special treatment centre.
So far, Nigeria has recorded 5 deaths and 5 survivors of the deadly Ebola disease which has claimed over 1000 people in the West African sub region since its outbreak in March this year.
