Keyamo has verbal diarrhea for saying Ogah should be sworn in – Ohanaeze youths
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, has carpeted Barrister Festus Keyamo, for saying that Dr Uche Ogah be sworn in as the Governor of Abia State. The group said the lawyer and activist is ahowing symptoms of someone with verbal diarrhea.
Justice Okon Abang of an Abuja Federal High Court had on June 27 invalidated the election of the governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, over irregularities in his tax papers filed with INEC. The judge then ordered the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue Ogah who came second during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries in the state, with certificate of return.
Acting on the order of the court, INEC representative, Senator Lawrence Nwurukwu, issued a certificate of return to Dr. Ogah, an action that triggered more confusion in the state’s polity.
Governor Ikpeazu had filed for stay of execution in a bid to stop INEC from executing the court order but failed as Justice Okon refused to entertain the suit.
Following the court’s ruling and Ikpeazu’s refusal to vacate office, Keyamo maintained that the embattled governor was occupying Abia State government house illegally as the certificate of return issued to Ogah invalidates his.
The OYC however in a statement issued by its Abia State Chairman, Okemiri Alex urged Nigerians to ignore Keyamo’s call, saying the lawyer and activist was suffering from “verbal diarrhea.”
The statement reads: ”The recent vexatious antics and vituperations of one Barrister Festus Keyamo, who asked for the swearing-in of Dr. Uche Ogar as Abia State Governor is a slap on the legal profession.
“It is nothing but a verbal diarrhea. Is Keyamo not aware that the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, is in the Appeal Court to challenge the decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja?
“Why do all manner of people make unguarded statements on the Abia issue just to be noticed, rewarded or just talk for talking sake?
“Festus Keyamo should keep his mouth shut and allow the Court of Appeal at Abuja to do its job. There should be no trial on the pages of the newspaper.
“Even the AGF has made it clear that the case should be unfettered even up to the Supreme Court, if necessary.”
