Invasion of Odili home: Body of SANs visit Malami, demand probe
The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BoSAN), on Tuesday added a special kind of pressure on the heated debate of who invaded the home of Justice (Mrs) Mary Odili, last week Friday. Odili is a Supreme Court Justice.
Representatives of BoSAN held a closed-door meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, demanding probe of the incident.
The Body of SANs is not known for frivolities and empty activism but their voice and concern over the siege of Justice Odili’s home which nobody has claimed responsibility meant that the matter is not likely to be swept under the carpet.
Speaking on behalf of the SANs at the Federal Ministry of Justice Abuja, shortly after the meeting, Adegboyega Awomolo, disclosed that BoSAN was worried at the impunity and nature of the invasion and would not rest until the culprits and their sponsors are brought to book.
He charged the Executive to unearth those behind the national embarrassment.
Recall that the AGF through his Special Assistant, Umar Gwandu, had earlier washed his hand off the incident which many lawyers say is impunity taken too far.
Both the DSS and EFCC had also denied any involvement in the assault on the home of Justice Odili.
Many lawyers, including Mike Ozekhome, SAN, had punctured the search warrant purportedly presented by the invading security agents who claimed to represent a task force.
