IGP Arase Bars SPY Police From Use of Regular Police Uniform
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase has directed companies using Supernumerary Police (SPY) nationwide to stop the use of regular Police uniform for their operations on or before 1st January, 2016.
The IGP gave this directive on Thursday, at a meeting with Security Managers of Companies using SPY Police for their internal security.
He said the measure was part of his administration’s renewed crime fighting strategy, aimed at curtailing the activities of criminally-minded persons who disguise in police uniform to perpetuate their nefarious activities.
According to Force Public relations Officer, Acting ACP Olabisi Kolawole, the IGP has however, approved the use of a newly designed grey and black trouser as the new uniform to be worn by spy police officers nationwide.
