Gunmen kill man in front of hotel in Delta; police investigate
The Delta Police Command has confirmed the murder of an unidentified young man by gunmen in Udu Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed this to newsmen on Tuesday in a phone conversation in Warri.
Onovwakpoyeya who could not confirm if it was a cult-related issue, however, said that the police had commenced investigation to apprehend the suspects.
The command’s spokesperson said that the incident happened on Sunday night at Ovwian community.
“It is true; he was shot on the stomach. The police have commenced investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Onovwakpoyeya said.
A source said that the incident occurred at about 9:00 pm adjacent Izomo Junction in Ovwian.
“The gunmen came in a commando style in front of a popular hotel and shot the victim at a close range.
“The development caused tension in the area as people scampered for safety,” the source concluded. (NAN)
