Grumble in Ondo PDP as Jegede emerges guber candidate
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, on Monday emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November this year. He resigned his appointment on July 23 to pursue his guber ambition.
Jegede polled 760 votes to beat Saka Lawal, his only rival, who scored only 22 votes in what looked like a consensus arrangement.
Mr. Jegede hails from Akure in the Ondo Central Senatorial district, the same district with Governor Olusegun Mimiko. This has already sent shock waves in the party fold with some PDP members voicing their displeasure at the lack of equity and fairness in the choice of Mr. Jegede.
