How God gave me a new name, Chioma Jesus: Multiple-award winning gospel singer
Popular gospel singer, wife and evangelist, Amaka Okwuoha, has recounted how through a prophecy, God gave her a new name, Chioma Jesus, through one of her songs, a name that gone global such that many people do not know her by her real name.
According to her in a testimony posted on Nathaniel Bassey (another gifted gospel singer} Fan Page, her story took a turn in 1995 at a crusade ground.
She recounts: “In 1995, a foreign preacher from Brazil came to preach in a crusade in Nigeria and I was there. He looked towards my direction and requested I should come forward and I came. He said God told him that He is going to give me an indigenous song (a song in my dialect – Igbo).
“And that, that song will overshadow my real name and announce me all over. After that meeting I was still struggling; it seemed nothing was going to show forth. Few years later, Chioma Jesus came as an inspiration and encounter and from that day things drastically turned around. Destiny began unfolding. Few years later, I sang at the world’s biggest worship platform, THE EXPERIENCE, and that brought about a total change of my story.
“I’ve sang the song Chioma Jesus in Europe, America many parts of the world. They may not understand it but they enjoy and dance to it. My real name is Amaka Okwuoha. But many do not know my real name they know me as Chioma Jesus,” she said.
Now, a global evangelist, she has ministered along with top-rated international gospel ministers all over the world namely, Ron Kenolly, Don Moen, Kurt Kay, Juanita Bynum, Lionel Peterson, among others.
She is married to Evangelist Callistus Okwuoha and their marriage is blessed with children.
